Frequently Asked Questions

Since the purchase of a Ragdoll kitten is a very serious commitment to us,

we wonder if we could email you questions that may come to mind and

whenever you have time, to get some insights into the following queries we

           have.

Any questions you may have, ask away, no matter how silly it may sound, if we don’t

have the answer straight away we can try and find out for you.

1.       Are there any personality differences between a male and female Ragdoll?

The male can be more affectionate, but I find both are equal in there personality & temperament, having said that, you will never find two Ragdoll cats the same as                  they have individual personalities & temperaments

2.       How many years can a Ragdoll live for?

They can live for up to 15 years and longer, 20 years is the longest I’ve heard of

3.       We have quite a tall bookcase without a protective glass door displaying various invaluable and valuable knick-knacks. Will there be a need to ‘fence’ the cupboard to avoid accidents and the kitten potentially injuring his/her self?

An enclosed cupboard is a consider, as cats will always find the highest point to jump or climb, this is a natural instinct for cats, but they can be taught not to jump, this is a subject I can discus better in conversation

4.       Do you have any advice to ‘cat/kitten-proofing’ our home?

Apart from having a cat enclosure attached to your home to prevent your cat from roaming the streets but still getting an outdoors environment, fly screens and security screen doors to stop your cat from exiting your home.

5.       What things should we have at home in preparation for the Ragdoll Kitten?

·          A Scratching Post

·          3 Food Bowls For Wet & Dry Food & Water

·          Bed

·          Kitty Litter Trays

·          Grooming Kit

·          Toys

·          Good Vet

6.       Will there be a contract or agreement that we will need to sign and at what stage?

We do not have contracts with pet cat/kittens, we may take up an agreement for         breeder kittens; if we do, it will only  be for a selected few to protect curtain blood lines,      any other agreement is verbal as Cat/Kitten is a responsibility like a child.

7.       What vaccination schedule do you adhere too?

First Vacc at six weeks old and second Vacc when de-sexing takes place between                10 & 11 weeks old, a third Vacc must be given at 16 weeks by new owner then booster  shots every 12 month after that

8.       Is there a health guarantee? And if so, for how long?

        Yes, Pleas read   Guarantee

9.    What are your thoughts concerning Pet Health Insurance?

This is an individual’s preference, I myself have a good Vet who is reasonably priced           and it does not hurt the pocket considering the number of cats I have, and that all my         cats are confined from roaming beyond our boundaries, all our cats are socialized so          we don’t have in house fighting

10.     I work full time therefore the Ragdoll will have to be on his/her own  for most of the day.     We have read that a Ragdoll is a moderately independent cat that can be  left unattended    for long hours in a day, indoors. Is this true? Nonetheless, we would still like to provide stimulus for the Ragdoll cat/kitten when he/she gets bored so what is your advice in     making sure the Ragdoll is kept occupied during those hours? We have read from a few articles that it is recommended to purchase a second cat/kitten for companionship but realistically; we can only afford to care for one.

Your Cat/Kitten will likely sleep the day away when alone a second cat is good for       company but become more active and mischievous whilst there owners are away.

11.    In the event that  I have made travelling plans and need to entrust the care of our           Ragdoll to a carer other than our families, do you offer boarding services or may               know of any reputable boarding houses you would highly recommend?

We do take on the occasional cat we sell subject to room being available at the time required, and yes we do recommend 2 boarding catteries.

12.    What is the price for each type of cats/kitten you offer? Pet vs. Show vs. Breeding,             Male vs. Female and so forth.

Pricing for cat/kittens all vary but pet kittens start from $600.00 upwards

13.    What is the difference between pet, Show and Breeder Kittens.

Some kittens even though they are genuine Ragdoll kittens, there are some that don’t       meet the standards for showing and or breeding, with Bi-Colours and Mitted kitten miss markings can be common making them pet or non showing quality only

14.    What is the guarantee to the purchase of a Ragdoll kitten from you?

We would like to guarantee a kitten to every person who requires a kitten from us             each season, but they don’t pop out like chicken eggs, we have no control over how         many kittens, what colour and what sex a breeding queen has, but we do have control      over who gets available kittens when they are born, we have a kitten wish list on our          web site and we take orders over the phone, all kittens are placed as to the date of order, sex and colour, we do not favour anyone we treat everyone equally, if we cannot provide kittens for whatever reason we will recommend a worthy breeder who may be able to help.

15.    Will the Ragdoll kitten come with the following?

·          Registration & Pedigree records

Yes free for breeders only, for pets a small charge required

·          Vaccinated and how many times

Yes 2 X F3 Vacc

·          Wormed

Yes

·          De-sexed

Yes

·          Veterinary checked

Yes

·          Diet Chart

Yes

·          Kitten Pack. What will be included in the pack?

Yes Subject To Availability at Time

·          Properly Socialised

Yes, but there full socialisation starts when you take kitten home

·          Litter Trained

Yes

16.    I am interested in a pet Ragdoll kitten therefore at what age will the Ragdoll                        kitten be available?

Most kittens go to there new owners by the time they are 12 weeks old subject                        to conditions, there health and being de-sexed.

17.    We understand that a Ragdoll kitten’s personality starts to emerge from the age of                  6 weeks. After depositing the non-refundable $100 to confirm our order and secure               the next available kitten, what are your thoughts in regard to  me making  a visit at                    a time and day that best suits you, to choose our Ragdoll when the litter is about 6-8      weeks old.

Confirmation of sale and or deposits will not take place until all prospective buyers            have seen and or selected a kitten first, all interstate and overseas buyers must pay               in full before kitten departs our cattery, for all buyers I provide photo’s when available

18.    Is it ok for us to email or phone you with any queries once we have the Ragdoll kitten at home?

Yes, I encourage people to keep in touch after purchase

19.    Will there be ‘ongoing’ guidance & support?

We are always available for guidance & support even if you don’t buy a kitten from us.

20.    In the event that a new owner has bought a Ragdoll kitten from you and finds that he/she       is unable to care for the cat/kitten due to circumstances, will you take the cat/kitten back         and or assist in re-homing the cat/kitten, regardless of age?

Yes we do help any new owner of a Cat/kitten bought from Redoak Ragdolls to be re-homed; any costs incurred by us will be at the cost of the new owner at time of sale of Cat/Kitten
